Before I speak about the law, let me quickly enlighten you about an aspect of suburban life that has a mixed value of bemusement and amusement for me.
Most of you will have heard about Schroedinger's cat. In short, this imaginary feline sits in a box being both alive and dead at the same time - in a state quantum indetermination - waiting for someone to open the box and observe it to be either definitely dead or definitely alive. Likewise we have no idea whether it is meowing, purring, licking its paws, or essentially in a state of smelly rot. The basic idea is, that it depends on the laws of quantum physics whether either of the mentioned states is found when the box is opened. Until this happens the kitten is in a combined state of purring, meowing and smelly rottenness.

In South Africa, however, we don't even need to place kitty in a box to observe the unknown state of a situation: you only need to approach one of those teeny roundabouts that one finds in the suburbs. In fact these phenomena of our road make available not two, but three possible states of indetermination - states that you won't know before you actually arrive at the little circle and observe another car that arrives there at the same time. The first is a simple event, is that car coming from the left that cuts right in front of you without taking the trouble of following the rules of the land by going around the teeny circle. If it is a 4x4 they may even drive right across the middle circular hump. Schroedinger made no allowance for this kind of phenomena, which we shall simply call the cranium voidal state.

The other options are somewhat more complex and depends on what you expect of the other car from the left, what he/she expects from you, what you think he/she expects and what he/she expects you will expect. Yes ... I know ... the country's road-law states that the guy entering from the right has the right of way, but as we know, in our little heap of soil, everybody regards him/herself to have the right of way, and laws are there for the ruling party to formulate at moments of seemingly unending idleness [at times they may also keep themselves occupied by copiously contributing to the state of over-population of the planet, and that this is a good thing to do is shown by the important figures who so joyfully participate in this activity in between the formulation (yes, I know you read fornication) of laws.] So if you are a descent law abiding driver, there is the possibility that you will drive within the legal guidelines, if the other guy feels similarly about matters. If not, ... well, then there is always Schroedinger's cat - is it meowing or exuding pongs of death.

Talking about cats, some of you may have noticed that we have rat-sniffers amongst us. True, I have been aware of the rats in our small community, but really, now we have sniffers as well!! Nevertheless, I wanted to write to my blog for some time now, and the sniffer merely inspired me to report back to you about my exciting Thursday, last week.

You see, I saw the sheriff. Yep, shook his hand and chatted with him another NPA personage - a superintendent nogal.

For those of you who are under the impression that not much is happening - that is only the way it seems to be. Things are really happening, only it is not happening very fast.

Mr Sherriff of the NPA is currently visiting Gauteng and we had an appointment last week in Randburg, where I dutifully went and gave my declaration under oath, as well as a good number of copies of my correspondence with Lord Patrick.

I met Mr Sherriff and a Superintendent at the Randburg Inn which, coincidently, has the smallest little swimming pool in the Southern Hemisphere - it is absolutely tiny and too cute for words - So that's all I'll say about it.

IMPORTANT
In short the message is that the investigations are ongoing and will probably continue until sometime in September. There are about 1400 investors to interview and that takes time to do properly as the NPA gents wanted to be as well prepared as can be. The NPA is also working closely with the liquidators and are also awaiting the report by the retired judge who chaired the recent private investigation [I'm still not very happy about the covertness of it all, but then who am I to judge - no pun here]. My impression is that the main Edwafin culprits are not going to get away scot-free, especially since some of their cohorts will also be aiding the state as witnesses.

Can we now begin to talk tentatively about Edwafin's fat cats? Come the end of the year, will we see them in a box, or will they continue their purring and spinning from behind the high-class 4 x 4's, visiting the local Fruit & Veg? Let's not forget that the DMA is still sprouting financial wisdom to all that have been born with a sucker gene. But then, my genes were also suckered by the financial enticement of hopefully-soon-to-be-behind-bars P & B.

Take care when you approach the round-about.

To make new friends is to encounter part of your alter-ego

Last week we received a cryptic anonymous about Upward Spirals' Gary van den Heever, with an challenge to find this "person" that has meaning for us as Edwafiners, and whom can be found amongst the friends of Gary.

Hey, it took me a while, but there amongst the multitude of Gary's Facebook friends I found Don Hutchinson in all his glory.I must say he is a magnificent specimen, a well-fed operator, and in my imagination I could see the meat-juices and oiliness of the many lunches and dinners, enjoyed out our investments dribbling from his jowls. The alternative of The Pair, Patrick, is similarly a gleaming specimen of good, well-fed health, but alas he has not made it to Gary's friendship page yet.

Before I give you the wrong impression, I do not wish to throw any aspersions on Gary. He seems like a nice above-board gentlemen, who is seemingly very popular and a man of many achievements. That their  pward Spiral web site won't win any prizes, is neither here nor there but perhaps as their business growths, as I suspect it will, that may improve as well. What Gary perhaps does not know, is that he has a lurker amongst his many friends. There in all his patheticism, Don beams amongst the many other beautiful people on Gary's web site. Perhaps it is time that Gary has a look at our blog so that he can discover who has so surreptitiously infiltrated his circle of friends.

So I asked Gary to be my friend on Facebook and he accepted! Now I think that is gregarious and I am very happy. You see, it appear that Gary has a certain fondness for the music I share with him, as well as fast cars. Well my fast car is driven by wify, but she is fast, I tell you, make no mistake.

Then I thought, since he is on Facebook as well, let me ask Don if I can be a friend of his as well. Let's face it, back in the days, I also invited Patrick to have a cup of coffee with me - mainly to discuss what we would do in our next life. But Don has been mum until now. You see, Don does not like people - yes, that's true, he likes their money, and the oily dribble down along his cheeks and down his chin (oops! a number of chins I should say), but he definitely does not like the people.

I have learnt to look at life anew every day, and appreciate something beautiful in life. Today's beauty: the fact that two boys, Patrick Stapleton and Don Hutchinson, who made such a devastating fiasco of managing R128,000,000 of other peoples money, have now set themselves up to give advice to others on how to manage their money in the newly but old named DMC. And at the other end of the universe an Angle looses a white, bright feather, while holding his tummy with mirth.

It's a good thing we are devoid of feathers, otherwise Don and Patrick would find ways to pluck them as well - if an Angle at the edge of the universe is not safe, we would have been plucked naked by now - or are we?

All the beautiful Edwafiners

Of course, when the first leaves began stirring in the under-brush, a good many followed suit. After the new web  page of Stapleton and Hutchinson was inaugurated two days ago, many old (girl)friends looked up my email address and contributed more information.

First of all, let me report back on my "welcome to our reality" message I sent to The Pair. Nothing, totally silent and devoid of living-substance. Very much like our Edwafin investments - totally, absolutely, and resolutely nothing. Now, can you imagine that.? I would have at least thought a "thank you for your warm welcome, and kind thoughts" would have been in order, but no - absolute solid heavy silence. "Oh well", I thought, "perhaps their site is yet an empty shell". But not so, as one in our midst, actually phoned the office phone of the sparkling new DMC, and spoke to Sandy, the other half of Don. So they are in office.

Having mentioned the poorly designed website [really Patrick, your financial acumen is deplorable, but must you let your poor taste reflect on the Internet - shame on you now.], I wondered who the service provider would be, that would provide such a service to brittle fingers. And ... yet another girlie came to the rescue and supplied the following:

Yoopy-whoopy I thought, and immediately visited the Upward Spiral web site. Oh, deary, me. What a shambles it would be, in my best Shakespearian. The Upward Spiral has not yet taken off, and it is still firmly rooted to the earthy plane. They also have a most peculiar web site address http://www.us1007.co.za/ - go figure! There are just no names that can be connected to the management of the site. Oh yes, plenty of promises and wonderful visions of the future, but all hidden behind a wall of anonymity. They are actually erecting (sies! for those improper thoughts) their own towers. Naturally The Pair (Patrick and Don) have attached themselves to one of those erections, and now hope that it will spread the word about their sincerity with our money. The word "premature" comes to mind, if you catch my drift. Let's face is the NPA is still investigating the Edwafin matter, and at the prospects of the money of others, they have already latched themselves to somebody else's erection (you know what I mean - the tower, tsk, tsk, tsk.)

The next best thing was to log on the site and join the forum. Thus bearded Mario duly filled in all the required spaces; confirmed via email that I wanted to join the forum, and was informed that the moderator would have to check me out. Well, folkies, he/she/it is still checking as silence is the state of existence from Upward Spiral - and these people purport to be specialists in electronic communications. Well, let's face it "soort soek soort."

It is utter coincidence that Upward Spiral was last updated on 8 July 2009 (there is a peculiarity here as the original article was written on11 August - Einstein's ears are flapping as there are people who have actually mastered reverse time travel) while the new DMC came into existence around the same time. The quality of both sites seem to be on par - hey guys, like so many of you, I don't live even close to the seas, but it is surely getting smelly around here.

We will snoop on, an I love your assistance.

May I speak on your behalf?

<==== Patrick "I will abuse your money" Stapleton

Well, well, after some time of silence, you get two blog entries on one day. Although the weather is rather peculiar up here in Gauties today, and it may even snow, by the feel of it, let me put your mind at ease. No, I don't have too much time on my hands, but I do feel that special events demand special attention.

<==Don "oh, yes, yes, yes, your moneeeey, oooooh" Hutchinson

You see, I was worried that Don and Patrick might think that they are out of mind of us all. Perhaps I speak for the majority of you, when I say that they are still part of our synaptic activities, and I felt it my duty to welcome them back in our midst. Thus, without too much pensation, I wrote them a quick email, just to welcome their return to the wild world of other people's moneys - call it financing a life-style if you want.

This is what I said:
Good old Patrick and Don

Well, on behalf of all your previous investors I would like to give you a hearty welcome to the world of business and finance. There exists no doubt in my mind that this time round you will be equally as successful as you were with your Edwafin venture.

Of course your progress shall be followed and reported on in the minutest detail. Yes, you may not have looked for a while, but the blog has taken on a life of its own and shall now include the reference to your new undertaking. Now, I wonder, which of the two of you has such a fascinating predilection for the concept of “dynamic” as it keeps bobbing to the surface of your schemes. We shall work on that one well, won’t we. Your new email address has been added to my blog list so that you will be automatically aware of what is being said about you – a refreshing thought no doubt.

Oh, before I go. You are naturally inclined to throw all kinds of threats my way – don’t bother, as Patrick knows, I don’t scare easy.

Yours sincerely

Dr Mario Koppers
You will have noticed that I used my social title, this is just to ensure them that my welcome note was official. No, I didn't use their titles - the ones they are entitled to - because that might just ban me from blogging on Google.

Toodleloo

Stirrings in the world of finance

After some major silence, a few snippets of information need to be shared. No, the liquidators have not moved to an alternative universe they are merely hiding behind a distant red giant. Slowly I'm seeing my own prophetic vision manifest into solid  molecules of structure: the liquidators are like the seaweed you encounter on a Sunday morning stroll on the beach. You know it has an ecological purpose, and that it has emerged, rootlessly, from the deep depths. But now that it has found a place in your reality on the hot sands before you, you cannot for the life of you imagine, what its purpose in creation is. It is a browning, dark green in colour, and, yep, it stinks to high heaven (interesting expression that: something stinking to high heaven). Soon, - having occupied a small momentary place in our reality, it will have dissolved itself and be no more.

The Pair
However, that is not true of the "pair"" Patrick Stapleton and Don Hutchinson. These two seem to have elected to be joined at the hip, as will become clear soon.

Apparently the high life is still very strong with The Pair, and Patrick has been observed gallivanting all over the place in his high priced 4 x 4. Yes, folks he is putting our money to good use. At least we cannot fault him on that.

Remember, a while ago I reported on the probability that The Pair were planning their next operation of extortion. I suspected that its name would have something to do with dynamic. Well, one of our sleuths have encountered the following web site: http://dynamicmc.co.za/. Of course you are quite correct, the site is appallingly designed and incomplete, but baby-steps, yes baby-steps. When you have a look-see at the site's "Contact us" page you will note the addresses being right in the correct vicinity of The Pair's hunting ground.

Most beauteous of the site is the slogan at the top:
Risk analysis - Why run your company without the necessary knowledge of the risks attached to various decisions. DMC - let us show you the power behind knowledge.
The key word here is "risk analysis", and we are well versed in that aspect of finance aren't we, fellas? Yet, aren't we being ever so sneaky? Just like our other professional gobbler of other's money, Carole Gradiner, no names are attached to the new venture. Never mind, folks, we, the old Edwafin stalwarts will continue spreading the word for you - won't we now? We also have a very keen sense of smell.

To me it is just soooo fascinating that we have the archetype that only knows how to work, deal, take, and generally manipulate other people's money. Let's face it with their track record, no respectable company would employ them to do an honest days professional, quality work. What else can they do but operate sleaze-like through the reality of other souls. At least they get to call themselves "professional."

The Sherrif, yes the Sherrif

Remember Mr Sherrif of the NPA. Well he was going to visit some of us, for a chat. That was some months ago. Well, I can whisper in your ear that he has been to visit some investors, and that he is probably coming to Gauting this month. The wisdom of visiting Gauteng I would not like to comment upon. However, I am glad to have been proven wrong in my assumption that Mr Sherrif was merely a figment of my imagination. Yep, he really exists, according to reports. His appearance is nevertheless mostly fleeting, and one recovers from the shock very rapidly. We'll see.

Well, that is all for now, and I urge all of you to keep your eyes peeled for the appearances of The Pair as well as the other "innocents" of our production. Let us at least prevent others from falling into the same trap as we now are trying to extricate ourselves.

We'll speak soon again.

Tweet-Tweet

Spring is in the air and the birds are chirping again, the dogs are smiling and wify is wagging her tail. Oops! I have that the wrong way round - I should say: the dogs are smiling and wagging their tails, and wife, well ... she is doing things ...

Of course the birds are singing in many ways as well - if you comprehend my thinly disguised implications. But first, let me announce: anonymous is back, and you may all write in under that non-de-plume. In a moment the reason will become clear to you. So for those with a romantic predilection for my butt, lustful longings for farm animals and yearnings for little children - we shall tolerate you but not publish you. So twirp away.

Although it is not quite Spring yet, the Universe has whispered in my ear that it soon will be, since we have put a structure in place that says on 1 September it will be Spring (here, elsewhere, such as in Europe, it will be Autumn - go figure. Humans are truly schitzo). Of course, we humanoids tend to think that the Universe takes notice of us, and it does but sometimes it preempt our wishes and manifests Spring a few weeks earlier. Yes, I know that it is indeed infuriating that the Universe sometimes acts according to its own whims, and acts out of turn but so do my in-laws and some things can just not be avoided.

Of course, with Spring comes new life, and it would be strange that the famous five of past-Edwafin would not breath in some of the new fresh air. That set my mind working again for a change.

We all are aware of the quick recovery that was made by Carole Gardiner. She dumped all those who invested through her in Edwafin and started a new organization called Lifestyle Bounceback. No doubt, many of her old Cape Town friends, once they get a moment between staring at their flat topped mountain, you know, the ones she has such a good relationship with, and who love her so much that they supported her whole heartily on this blog, that those good people have stood in line to pay her the little bit of money they had left so that she can help them get their life style back. I have it on some authority that she is in business with a similarly upstanding gentleman, who's original idea it was to create Edwabond in the first place, and who other investors are looking longingly at to invoke revenge of their own kind.

It never ceases to amaze me that the Universe has though of an archetype, whose sole role in society it is, to lift the possessions of other people. Carole, for instance, doesn't do knitting to make a living, nor does she bake cakes of the edible kind. No, she sweetly takes your money and makes you promises. Here is the name again: Carole Gardiner at LIFESTYLE BOUNCEBACK. It is interesting that when does a Google with Lifestyle Bounceback, you get, amongst a number of bouncing Americans, a link to the site called http://www.oceanfinance.co.za/LifestyleBounceBack.aspx. Most notable is that there are no names of individuals who make up the company, but that it is situated in Tygervalley. Is the Universe playing tricks again?

Of course little Carole worked her unique ability under the auspices of two other, similar, archetypes: Patrick Stapleton and Don Hutchinson:
and These blood-brothers have no seeming intention of getting you your lifestyle back, and one wonders how they will apply their finesse in future. Let us take a bet: Patrick will deal with a motorcar of some kind (above or below ground), yes a bird does not easily change its colours and one dynamically gets stuck to past issues so that predictability becomes a main feature of one's own Universe. Of course, one needs funds, money, cash to do such things but you never, never, never, use your own for then you cannot squander it freely. No one uses money extracted from others, while yours is safely hidden somewhere. In comes the slurker, Don. Now, please keep in mind I am just playing out an imaginary scenario. Again:

In comes Don and says to Patrick: "You know old Pat, that nice trick of yours to extract money from the good folk out there, and then make it disappear? "
Patrick: "Well ... I vaguely remember something like that. Do you mean to tell me that there are still folks out there who have money that we could get?"
Don: "Of course, there are, all those old pensioners, single moms and other silly entities with extra cash, just imagine!"
Patrick: "I am but Wow! that gives me an idea. Let us build another car, and get them to pay for it. We can have rich lunches every day, drive luxury cars, fool around a bit - you know, wink-wink. Yes. let's do that. What do you suggest."
Don: "I will start a company to get the cars investors - those silly old fools - and you get stuck on fabricating the fabrication of the cars. No, it does not matter if it ever gets finished, that is just for
show."

Patrick: "What a major plan! Once we have all their money we get declared incompetent - oops insolvent I mean, and then we hand then over to Carole for further intensive care. Majorly, indeed a masterful plan."
Don: "Sure, and we have all these good buddies whom we can depend upon to support us: SAVCA, NCC, DTI, FSB, and I will think of a few more."
Patrick: "Good, good, good (spittle dribbling down his left jowl). Now, what shall we call ourselves? Any ideas?"
Don:"Perhaps we should start separate companies, so that when one collapses, we still have the other. Let's think carefully about the names and about the colours we wish to represent ourselves
in. Sheep's cloths-colour wouldn't you say?"

Patrick: "Well, ity worked the first time round ... blah ...blah .. blahbiddyblah...."

Stay tuned for our next intriguing episode of The Repeat Of The Evil Conjecture or The Universe has a huge eye in the sky

Ouch! My nose ring hurts!

After a few days of dark clouds, the air seems to be lifting somewhat, and we have another moment to ponder the Edwafin conundrum.
Since my last entry I have heard nothing about the famous meetings to which investors were invited. I am still filled with ironic mirth when I think about the feeble attempts by the invincible four to get investors behind their attempt to force the court's hand into pronouncing Judicial Management as the solution to the problem. A problem that has in reality already proven itself to be answered: Edwafin has no money to pay anybody, and they have squandered over R200 million - a major responsibility, if you ask me. One can therefore not help but understand the four's feverish attempts at getting the court to decide to extend the pain further. Let's face it the prospects of sojourning in a SA jail is unpleasant.

Thus like warriors of old, we soldier on. I have visions of barefooted Don and Patrick, robed in leopard skin skirts, each with a feather in his hair, and bellybuttons protruding from paunchy tummies. Faces painted with red and black war paint (Edwafin colours), and the letters DMC on their foreheads, they let out the most unearthly falsetta war cries while they repeatedly shoot straw arrows at the moon, using the tiniest plastic bows. It is a pityful scene to behold: none of their arrows find their mark and they slowly make their way back to the earth below - like teardrops. (Secretly I also have conjectured Verona with a feather as well.)

Of course it is not Patrick's first war against investors, and from emails received on this side of the border, it seems that history has a habit of repeating itself. It appears that not one continent on this blue planet has escaped the unique touch of the Stapletons, and that apparently stretches from Australia to the other end of the planet in Scotland and Finland. From the statistics of viewers of this blog, there are interested parties as far afield as the USA, England, Mexico and Norway. Now that is travelling around the world - talking about the world being a small place!

The four's intentions are noble enough; deftly all together now: "we will trade ourselves out of debt". All the Angels in heaven are singing in praise and flapping their wings. Rejoice, the masters have spoken. (As I am writing this a local drunkard has just begun singing his praises on the banks of the little stream that runs past our house. He does this every Friday afternoon so I don't think he is rejoicing the Edwafin resolution - he sounds too happy so he clearly invested his money somewhere else but Edwafin.)

Let's proceed. We were discussing the ability of the masters to recoup R200 million and bring back profitability to Edwafin, mainly through the car called DMC. Now, I received an interesting email today, and hoped that I would be given permission to publish it here. But the writer has not yet responded to my request. So I do it differently (if permission is given I will publish it immediately).

So we are going to make money with the DMC. This can only happen when the following questions are answered:
  • Question: Is the designer of the DMC still employed by Edwafin?
  • Question: Are there people at Edwafin who can build the car without the designer?
  • Question: Are there any technical people at all left at DMC/Edwafin?
  • Question: Do they have money to employ a full compliment of staff to start production in January 2009? (oops, my mistake that was four months ago already)
  • Question: Whom was the homologation of the DMC awarded to?
  • Question: Is that person still with Edwafin?
  • Question: Can a car be manufactured and sold without a person who has the proxy to sign of on a finished car?
  • Question: What happened during the middle of Dember 2008?
  • Question: Why does Patrick repeatedly announce that Edwafin has homologation for the DMC?
  • Question: Why does Patrick not show proof of all these statements to the investors whom he so terribly wants to convince?
I don't know about you, you may want Patrick to continue soldiering, but my nose ring hurts.

Come dance with me? I'll whisper sweet fibs on your ear.

It happened again. Someone sent an important comment concerning the state of affairs of DMA, and I moderated it via my cell phone. By George! this morning I discover that it wasn't published yet. And now that it has been published I can't find it. This person seems to know about DMA and says:
Do not be fooled - this pretty picture is no longer so- the factory has been devoid of semi-built vehicles for months, the workers (save for 1 Pat Malone) have been retrenched, the offices vacant save for 4 idle space fillers, equipment and stock is 'disappearing' and not much else happening except for pie-in-the-sky talk of a mine vehicle.

Who will design the vehicle?
Who will build the vehicle?
How will they buy the parts?

Worth R128 Million? - sure, and Patrick Stapleton is just a good man who has been misunderstood...

- Still not holding my breath, but sick to my stomach nevertheless.
This morning, as I went through the documents to find the instances where I, and other have been told about how the court case against Edwafin by that dear lady was of no consequence, I found a litany of memorable sayings by first my dear friend Patrick and then a bit later his associate, Don Hutchinson. Of course little Verona, is just off-stage, but still requires the prompter.

An aside: It is interesting, that the word "litany" also means prayer - so that is what they have been doing all this time!

Anyway, it is going to take some time but I will compile a list of dates and statements/promises by these folks to give you an overview of how they have tried to lead the investors by the nose - yes, like donkeys they dangled carrots before our noses, and when one carrot shrivelled up, they used a new one. The list is going to take some time but should be an indication of how little one can depend on, and trust in, these participants to the human race.

The latest issue is, of course, the impending court case - you know, the one that wasn't going to happen.

When at a recent meeting some of the investors requested a vote on the liquidation of Edwafin, the directors would have none of it. To support their point they provided figures to indicate that the company was a profitable and viable one. Of course, at that stage Don and Patrick both confirmed that with the help of their all-powerful but cheap advocates, a deal had been made with the lady and the court case was "finish and klaar" ala Patrick. Good!

Well, we all know that that was not true - don't we now? So shuddering in their little booties, the four applied for Judicial Management on the day the case went before court - thereby stalemating the works, and postponing the case again with a month.

Am I having visions, or are the four still shaking in their little booties, because now they want the help of the same investors that they treated with such immense disdain, whom they have lied to and deceived, to support their request for Judicial Management.
But they are cunning! (slinks of skelm, met ander woorde):
  • First, abracadabra! they provide you with different figures that make it look as if the company is worth virtually nothing - we dealt with that yesterday.
  • Then they want you to believe that they can make up the R200,000,000 during bad economic conditions, and in such good time that the investors will be paid again from August (2009?). That while they lost the same amount, during the five good years! Ingenious, masterful, intellectually unequivocal. The omit to tell us what will happen if their conjecture flops - doesn't happen. It is like the authority-supported clause in the prospectus that tells you that they will pay you back when you default. Like a silent fart: you hear nothing, but the smell hangs in the air.
  • Thirdly - they are transparent you know - they give you the vote: you have a choice: either we get sequestrated or your choice is for Judicial Management. The third option they do not mention directly, and that is to have the court decide by simply abstaining.
Aren't they decent people, these? Of course they are, but giving the investors a choice in the matter is not really what they want, because Ms Cowan speaks on behalf of the four when she says in her letter (24 April 2009):
"It is our bona-fide beliefs that a liquidation order made against the company would be to the detriment of all concerned, investors, employees, shareholders and their respective families alike, and to that end we advise that we will continue to strenuously oppose the liquidation application."
Isn't she just too sweet? She actually blushed when she wrote this, I'm sure. What she is actually saying is: "we give you a choice, but if you do not support us, we will fight you with all our might." She also expresses her concern, after they have laid off most of their staff (and the remaining ones are hardly paid salaries), and they have taken their investors for a merry joyride all over the universe. Naturally, the money (that is no more) that they will use to fight you, is/was yours - so they can afford to spend it. Giggle, giggle, giggle.

After all the deceptions they have fed us, they persistently refuse to provide investors with proper financial statements. They are good talkers (on second thought, perhaps not even that), but don't seem to realize that the investor can only make up his mind about these things when he sees figures on paper - this Patricksonian blabber-mouthing is just not enough anymore - in modern parlance: it sucks. The only conclusion one can come to is that once again they are again leading the investors on a path of deception. THEY ARE JUST NOT TO BE TRUSTED.

Nevertheless, I still have a deep feeling of fondness and admiration for these people - let's face it they are part of my reality, and as such have a purpose to fulfill.Next time, I will choice another reality, one with fewer funny people.

Short-Thumb Syndrome

Today I was going to take it easy. I thought that after a long weekend, news would be scares and I could therefore devote my time on some philosophical issues. One that especially attracted my attention is the "I Told You SO" and the "Shall We Ever Learn" phenomenon. Both are creations in one's own reality and as such are part of the archetypes that we surround ourselves with. But, because of a bit more exciting news, that will have to stand over until a bit later - perhaps tomorrow.

There are two interesting phenomena that needs to be mentioned here. The one is the short-arm syndrome. That kind affliction you encounter with institutions such as the DTI, CIPRO, NCC, NPA, etc . Most of these have been somewhere in the chronicles of this blog, and we won't spend a huge amount of time on this topic. Suffice it to say, that the Short-Arm syndrome is found in places where there are people with certain functions, but because they have sat with folded arms for such a long time, their arms have grown shorter and shorter - if you don't use it then you lose it, some would utter. As a result they are unable to even reach for a phone or pick up a pencil. Science believes that this is part of our evolution (similar to the process of the disappearing little toe, or redundant wisdom teeth), and that given enough time such individuals will gradually melt away like candy floss in one's mouth. Wouldn't that save us some tax payer's money!

More seriously is today's main issue: the syndrome of the fast - shrinking thumbs. This is mainly caused by excessive thumb sucking. Not only can this cause a putrid smell, but one's thumb becomes smaller and smaller. Eventually one only has stinking thumbless hands left.
It appears that at a certain Durban company, this has become pandemic, and that many officials and working staff no longer have any thumbs left to speak of, and are now beginning to lick at their other fingers - the scourge of the Thumb-Suckers (where is Stephen King now).

Yesterday we accounted the incident at a recent meeting with Edwafin and stakeholders, in which the brave Don Hutchinson announced that the law suite by Mrs Griffin "is being successfully defended and already put to bed." My dear friend, Patrick Stapleton, added that the lady had been negotiated with to get her to withdraw her application. What people didn't notice was that both Don and Patrick were surreptitiously putting their thumbs in their mouths to give it a suck or two. Now, one of my good friends that I gained through this writing, sent me an interesting email this morning. Remember, the attorneys firm, GDLK, that I spoke about yesterday? - well the email is self explanatory, and it seems that we as investors rank rather low on the list:

Contraditions?

Gmail only allows one to have 10 emails on a list and to which updates of the blog are sent directly. Today I had to removed the email address of CIPRO/DTI from the blog's list as I am now convinced they no longer exist. I have tried to phone them, write to them and send telepathic messages to them - nothing; everything disappears into the ether - they are now part of a totally different reality.
Instead I added a new address to the list: that of Geyser, Du Toit, Louw & Kitching Inc. I sense that there is an event in the making here. Let me thank all those who responded to my request by sending me a copy of the letter dispatched by the above mentioned attorneys.

Let us start at the beginning.
This blog has mentioned, with some disgust, the disdainful manner in which Patrick Stapleton reacted towards Griffen's lawsuite against Edwafin. Keep in mind that the contemptious attitude he displays against her, he shows to us all. Some of us have personal experience of this.
Nevertheless, we were all waiting with abated breath for 17 April, when the matter would be before court again. Then around the beginning of April a letter from Edwafin containing the minutes of a public meeting stated, Don (in an arrogant tone of voice) pooh-poohed the legal action taken by a certain Mrs:
"... He confirmed that this action is being successfully defended and already put to bed."
The lawyer who asked the originally asked the question was not satisfied and contradicted Don's arrogant, presumptuousness with:
"...An application has been made for provisional liquidation and has been set down for arguments on April 17th. It does not mean that it has been successfully defended."
Realizing that Don's magic was shortcoming, Patrick, with his own brand of flashiness, intervened:
"Patrick clarified that the previous evening the company's attorney had met with the creditor in order to negotiate a withdrawal of the application and the attorney is amenable to us doing it."
"Don apologized for using the wrong legal terminology."
Don, Don, Don, - how embarrassing! You have still so much to learn from the master!

Hang on one minute, though! Now we have a letter circulating from a company called GDLK Attorneys, (dated 3/4/2009) and they are asking people to nominate them to take care of the liquidation of Edwafin. I never received the letter personally (secretly I feel affronted), but various readers forwarded me a copy last week. The letter basically sets out what we know already, and thought was no longer going to happen: Mrs Griffen's court case, and then states as point 4:
"The purpose of this letter is, in the first instance, to inform you that the writer will be prepared to accept an appointment [as one of the liquidators]. Further, that if the order is granted, the writer will be prepared to undertake an enquiry into the reasons for the company's demise and in particular to determine whether any person is responsible to compensate the company for any potential losses which either it or its creditors mey have suffered."
Confused? Yes, me too. Don and Patrick are convinced that Mrs Griffen has been won over, yet here we have an attorney who wants to do the liquidation, and if you want them to do it, you may respond kindly in a variety of ways.

So, on Thursday I phoned GDLK Attorneys to try and find out what was happening, but the writer, of the letter AJL Geyser was away for the weekend already. Instead I spoke to a lady, who's name I can't remember and who was as eager to speak to me as a melted, hot, chocolate Easter egg. I naively informed her who I was, and that I might also be interested in any action they were going to undertake against Edwafin. I also informed her that I had learnt of various travel plans, and I'm afraid that that killed the last little flame of affection between me and the nice lady. Nevertheless, I kept my friendly disposition, and asked her to clarify how it was possible for them to offer the liquidation of a company, when Mrs Griffen had been convinced to withdraw her case.

(Now, readers will know that I am already easily baffled by the mysteries that life presents while we silently orbit our sun, which in turn orbits the Milkyway of our galaxy.) And here, this sweet little lady complicates it all by telling me that the two have nothing to do with each other - point No 1, 2 and 3 on the letter from GDLK attorneys, dated 3/4/2009, have nothing to do with point No 4. Obviously, it makes sense in a way. There are probably other Mrs Griffins (me included) who would pursue a legal case against Edwafin, and when it comes to selecting liquidators, we have already been nominated. Neat!

Oops, that rat I though I noticed, was an Easter bunny, after all.
